Antonio José Manzaneda Ávila

Associate Professor of Ecology at the University of Jaén (Spain), where he conducts research at the Institute for Research on Olive Groves and Olive Oil. He holds a PhD in Plant Biology from the University of Seville and has held postdoctoral and research positions at Duke University (USA), Virginia Tech (USA), and other international institutions. His research focuses on agroecology, plant functional ecology, eco-genomics, and plant–animal interactions, with particular emphasis on biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and adaptation to climate change in Mediterranean agroecosystems. He has published extensively in leading international journals, including Nature, Science, PNAS, Nature Sustainability, New Phytologist, and Functional Ecology, and serves as associate editor and reviewer for major ecology journals. He has coordinated and participated in numerous competitive European and national research projects and actively contributes to science-based sustainability and knowledge transfer initiatives.
