Sarenput I´s Biographical Tomb Inscriptions (QH 36). A Philological and Palaeographical Study

This monograph is the result of a research grant awarded to the author by the Gerda Henkel Foundation to conduct a philological study of the biographical inscriptions in the tomb of Sarenput I at Qubbet el-Hawa in 2022. The work provides photographs, digital copies, a philological analysis and a translation of each of these inscriptions. It also describes the historical and cultural context of the biographical inscriptions of Sarenput I to understand the political events referred to in them that occurred at the beginning of the 12th Dynasty. The study of these inscriptions concludes with a paleographic list describing the function and spelling of each hieroglyphic sign used in them. In short, this work fills a gap in the specialised bibliography, as it is the first modern and complete edition of the biographical inscriptions from the tomb of Sarenput I, a task that had not been undertaken since the fundamental studies by Gardiner (1908) and Edel (1971a).
